Feeding dogs table scraps and leftovers definitely should not be done. Aside from the fact that they can cause an upset stomach, it can also make them vulnerable to various bacterial infections.

However, this doesn’t mean that you can’t feed them human foods! There are actually some human foods that are highly beneficial to dogs. When consumed in a regulated manner, they can improve the overall health of your dog!

What Are The Benefits Of Human Food To Dogs?

The main benefit of giving human food to dogs is that human foods are naturally more healthy and nutritious than dog foods simply because humans have more complex lifestyles.

Feeding your dogs human food can definitely boost their nutritional intake.

Aside from that, dog food formulates nutrients and vitamins to make them easily consumable by dogs. Not that it’s a bad thing, but these re-formulations can decrease the effectiveness and value of these nutrients. Consuming them directly from the source can definitely give your dogs more health benefits.

Which Human Foods Are Healthy For Dogs?

The first human food that we recommend for dogs is plain yogurt. It has an abundant amount of probiotics that can aid the digestion of dogs.

A good digestive process can prevent various gastrointestinal problems such as tummy aches, diarrhea, and flatulence. Just remember to feed them plain yogurt and avoid those with added sweeteners!

The next human food which is healthy for dogs is corn. It is rich in dietary fiber that can also aid the digestion of dogs. It can also reduce the risk of obesity, one of the most common ailments of aging dogs. While dogs will enjoy gnawing on corn cobs, it’s best to remove them as they may be a choking hazard, especially for puppies.

Guacamole is also beneficial for dogs, too. It contains rich amounts of Biotin and Vitamin E that can enhance dogs’ skin and coat condition. Because of this, they’re less vulnerable to skin diseases. Though humans love extra guacamole, dogs can’t! They should only eat less than a tablespoon of guacamole.

Eggs are another human food that is healthy for dogs. They are rich in amino acids that are needed to produce Protein which is needed by the body for muscle development. Eggs are also a good source of energy for dogs.

In relation to eggs, it's also recommended to give chicken to your dogs every once in a while. It's a rich source of B-vitamins, which can boost the immune system of dogs.

Chicken is considered lean meat. That’s why it's suggested for dogs who suffer acid reflux as they can easily be digested compared to other kinds of meats.

Lastly are whole grains and wheat. These food are rich in healthy fatty acids such as Omega 3 and 6, which can prevent hip and joint problems.

They help reduce stiffness and increases the elasticity of joints. They are the best nutrients to protect your dogs from arthritis. However, it’s best to consult your vets first, as some dogs can be allergic to whole grains.

Sometimes, sharing your food with your dogs is a must! Just make sure that it’s done in regulation.
